Eye-tracker Quake controls!

Hmm. The problem with this guy is he assumes everyone's seen eye-trackers before and that we won't think he's just controlling the game from under the table.

Where's his other hand? Ahahh!

OK: I jest. I am prepared to believe that eye-trackers exist, and I suppose now that this sort of computer voodoo will probably be mainstream by, like, tomorrow, and that I've just not been keeping up with the latest in awesome hardware developments. Sigh.

Question though: how the hell do you aim?

Super cool eyetracking Quake controls

It's new stuff -- part of a research study; slashdot covered it here:

Clever ole Zonk.

He appears to be using his left hand to walk around, and right hand to fire. I'm curious as to the accuracy of it though, since it's probably harder to keep your aim level and walk around without getting distracted by bits of scenery and other eye candy, although it could make twitch aiming a whole long quicker considering you just have to look at the target.

And what do you do when something happens out of game, just off screen, and you go to take that curious or concerned glance away for that fraction of a second? :\ I think I'll just stick to my trusty ol' mouse for now. Even if it does insist on sticking to my desk.
