This is still, I think, very much fringe. The "doll" and general angry-goth (as well as overly tanned-bleached "kogyaru") looks are still the norm (pun intended) for abnormal dress in Harajuku teens. I have yet to see any of these Decorers peeking out through hoardes of dolls and goths.
(Naturally just because I haven't seen them doesn't mean they don't exist ...)
I just love them. The Fruits book of Shoichi Aoki does really well in showing the diversity of this Japanese streetwear.
When flipping through the Fruits book I can't decide on which detail to focus, I can look at it for hours and hours.
I would love to go to Japan myself sometime and see them for real. My own attempts in dressing like this seem petty, but I'm trying! (although it would help if I would have had the small shoulders like those girls).
Looking at these pics I do regret that I didn't buy the Gloomy bear wallet in Canada last week!
I find the whole theatrical costuming aspect of Japanese culture fascinating. The uber-tanned Barbie surfers scare me the most, but I'm also intrigued by the juvenile style on show here. These two look like live Opal Fruits (or is it Starbursts now?)
^_^ i wear similar. but in Hong Kong, decorer fashion is like a normal fashion. so yeah. but i guess i overdo it sometimes. @_@~ whatever. but its not that biggie ^_^
but i sometimes lay off with the necklaces. : ( only about 2 or 3. its annoying when they get tangled with my earphones >: (
Damn that's a lot of pink.

Nice picture Kolla! I was wondering if the guys dressed that way too and you answered it for me.

I'm loving the whole two-fingers thing. I thought maybe the masamania guy asked them to do that, but it seems it's all part of the outfit.
Very cool.
